Numbered Stairs

I wasn’t sure at first if I loved the look of numbered stairs, or if I hated them. After a while, I decided I liked them, so I decided it was time to give our stairs a little facelift.

I began by cleaning the stairs thoroughly and then gave the risers a fresh coat of paint. Using pretty numbers from Jones Design Company, I printed them on card stock, cut them out (carefully), measured the midway point on each riser, traced them on to each stair in pencil first.

outlined each number with a fine Sharpie paint pen

and then filled in the numbers with the broad stroke paint pen.

*Note: If you’ve never used these paint pens, try them! They’re great for projects like these when you NEED precision. I could have used paint and a small brush, but it would have taken twice as long to paint these numbers and have them look decent in the end.
