Thrift store clock to convex mirror
Good day everyone! I’ve been working on collecting some picture frames and such to do a frame wall in our home. I am still debating if I should put art in them, or let them ‘be the art’. Regardless, there will be a few mirrors in the bunch. I really wanted to find a convex mirror (on the cheap) to add to the mix.
This is the clock I chose. The glass is a convex shape. It’s not severe, but it’s enough to give the look that I wanted.
I dismantled the clock, cleaned, and dried it. I also took the clock works off the back panel so it would sit flush with the wall once hung up.
Using some of Krylon’s looking glass spray, I painted the underside of the glass. It’s important to do light coats of the spray. It runs easy, so if you do a heavy coat of paint, it will pool in the middle. Patience is key. I did several very light coats until I got the coverage I wanted. It dries incredibly fast so it didn’t take long at all.
I painted the frame and reassembled the clock without the clockwork. Tada! Convex mirror!
I’m looking forward to making it a part of our frame wall!
